Sex Toys Cleaners
How to clean your sex toys properly?
It's important to keep your sex toys clean so you don't spread bacteria to yourself or your partner. If you plan to share your sex toy with another person, we recommend using a condom to prevent the spread of Sexual Transmitted Diseases (STD) and other bacteria, in addition to proper cleaning.
When you first receive your sex toy, make sure you clean it prior to using it. It’s important to keep the instructions for cleaning the sex toy and to follow them carefully. If you feel that cleaning the toy properly would be too time consuming or unrealistic for you, think about buying a different toy.
Sex toys need to be cleaned in different ways and with different products depending on what they are made of, if they are waterproof and how they need to be dried. If your sex toy is not waterproof, it shouldn’t be soaked in water and you will need to limit the amount of water that goes anywhere near a seal in the toy, because if water gets in it can break the toy or cause it to rust.
The information provided below gives a general overview for cleaning different types of sex toys and isn’t meant to replace the manufacturer’s instructions.
1. Silicone Sex Toys: (Non-porous)
They only require little soaping (mild, fragrance-free soap) and water to clean them. Silicone sex toys can be cleaned by sterilizing them in boiling water for three to five minutes, but there is always a little chance that silicone can break down. Pat dry with a towel.
2. Jelly/Rubber Toys: (Porous)
Wash with anti-bacterial soap and water or rubber-specific toy cleaner is a must.
3. Glass Toys: (Non-porous)
Wash with mild soap and lukewarm water. Do not expose glass to extreme temperatures.
5. Pyrex: (Non-porous)
You can use a sex-toy cleaner, wash with gentle antibacterial soap and water or you can boil it. Pyrex toys are dishwasher safe (if they do not contain a battery compartment or any electrical system).
4. Soft vinyl/latex/acrylic/hard plastic: (Porous)
You can clean these sex toys with a gentle anti-bacterial soap and water or a recommended sex toy cleaner. Do not boil these toys. Make sure all the soap is gone completely from the toy to prevent any damage to the product or irritation to you. Let air dry or wipe down with a soft cloth.
6. Cyberskin: (Porous)
Wash delicately with warm water only or with very odor free soap. Air dry and powder a small amount with cornstarch to keep them from getting sticky. If you will keep it and not use it for quite sometime, put it in a acid free plastic with a silica in it.
7. Stainless Steel: (Non-porous)
If there are no electrical components you can wash it, boil it or place it in the dishwasher.
In addition, check your toys to make sure there are no rips in the silicone, rubber, or jelly. Look over your glass and hard plastic sex toys to make sure there are no cracks. Any tears or cracks in the product can trap bacteria, and cannot be cleaned properly.
